What’s LUP all about

Lumose Upskilling Program is a program designed to support the underserved communities living in Ontario who need skills training to help them find greater opportunities for employment in occupations with better job prospects.

Our program is focused on training individuals in skills relevant to the manufacturing industry. We have programs tailored for both entry level positions and  engineering positions.

Our steps to getting a job through our services

Check your eligibility

Check your eligibility for the program and information about the application process

2.
Submit your application

Fill out a quick application form that will be provided to you upon contacting us and wait for a response from our evaluation team.

3.
Start the Lumose Upskilling Program

This manufacturing tailored program will include career readiness bootcamps and some educational resources.

4.
Program completion and access to Career coaching and mentoring

On program completion, you'll have access to a small group of coaching/mentoring sessions for a given period of time.

5.
Job application

Finally, we will help you throughout your job application process by matching you with employers that match your skill sets.

Job Applications

Landing a job isn’t as simple as building a resume. There are other key strategies that will affect your chances of being hired more than what is contained in your resume, like the website you search for jobs on, and how to follow up with employers.

Promotion

Stay educated, employed, and get promoted. Remember, education isn’t about what you learnt in university, it’s about the education that translates into principles that underpin how you act everyday, your reoccurring thoughts. That’s what gets you promoted. 

Who We Serve

Immigrants

We help facilitate newcomers and visitors under the Emergency Travel Measures find employment opportunities. The goal is to help this pool of potential workers acquire the skills required to achieve long-term and meaningful employment. This includes open work permit holders, refugees, and temporary work permit holders with PR status.

Underserved communities

We provide access to the employment and life skills necessary for the underserved communities to achieve long-term employment, meaningful careers and a successful future. Our program will also focus on helping justice involved clients get into the manufacturing workforce with the right skills needed for long-term employment.

Indigenous communities

Our innovative training, coaching and mentoring model ensures that Indigenous communities have the support required to achieve their employment goals.

Improve Your Skills

Lumose Skills Development is committed to helping job seekers improve their skills so that they may obtain and maintain employment. We offer one-to-one tutoring and small group tutoring in addition to workshops and other helpful skills training.

Employer Services

We provide services for manufacturing companies facing hiring challenges.
We will assist your company with:

Help assessing employee skills, interests, and preferences, matching them with employer workplace needs.
Refer pre-screened clients to meet your hiring requirements.
Diversity awareness and education.
Apprenticeship Grants and incentives.
Working with/consulting employers on how to hire, train, and support justice involved applicants and refugees.
Ongoing support and follow-up through the placement for both the employer and the employee.
Help employer and apprentice sponsor’s attract underrepresented groups into their workforce, including: supporting employers’ training needs and reduce administrative burden of recruitment.
Help create white-labeled onboarding and training programs to better retain their workers.
Help employers hire Justice involved and refugee apprentices by supplementing 50% of their salary during job placement up to $5000 per training participant, and training cost for the first 1000 hours of their apprenticeship.
